SIR20207 - Certificate II in Retail
Program Benefits

- Available to all new & existing staff members who work a minimum of 15 hours/week
- Provides an exciting opportunity for Owners/Managers to 'up skill' their teams and increase productivity
- Upon successful completion your employees will receive the nationally recognised qualification of Certificate II in Retail as well as a statement of results for all units completed
- A certificate can include Safe Food Handling, if required
- The training program will be tailored to your needs and be flexible in delivery with all workbooks supplied
- Training can be conducted within your workplace. All of our trainers have extensive experience in the retail and service industries with relevant teaching and industry qualifications
Course Objective
- Designed to reflect the role of retail employees who perform a range of functions requiring basic knowledge and practical skills
- Applies to those wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to begin a career in the retail industry
Course Structure
- The course is made up of 9 core units and 5 electives. Your trainer will confirm these elective with you, and design a Training Plan that reflects the skills you will develop
Scope of Delivery
- Training is conducted within your workplace once a month for approximately 6 hours. Students are expected to complete a training log whilst working to capture time spent training. These hours are credited to your traineeship
Course Duration
- Your traineeship is usually completed within 12 - 18 months, depending on your hours of work and your ability to competently complete set tasks
Assessment
- Assessment is completed by the trainer and supervisor through a number of means. Some examples are: short written assessments with the trainer, direct observation of trainee performing specific tasks, verbal questioning and workbook tasks. Trainees will be assessed monthly
Recognition of Prior Learning/Credit Transfer
- Recognition of prior learning and credit transfer may apply where units already completed are current and relevant to new traineeship and assessment will also be made in regard to the applicant's prior work or life experience
Certificates
- Upon successful completion of training, employees will receive a nationally recognised qualification in Certificate II in Retail, which is awarded within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
- Should a trainee wish to transfer or withdraw from training, a statement of attainment will be issued with all units which have been successfully completed.

- Applicants must currently work in the retail industry

Opportunity for Further Study
- Upon successful completion of the Certificate II in Retail (SIR20207) there is an opportunity for trainees to advance to the Certificate III in Retail (SIR30207)
